College Counseling

At Savannah Christian, our comprehensive college counseling program is designed to guide students and families through every step of the college admissions process. From personalized academic planning to scholarship and financial aid assistance, we provide the resources and support needed to help students make informed decisions about their future.

Beginning in eighth grade, students are introduced to resources that help them explore their strengths, interests, and goals. As they progress, the program becomes increasingly personalized, offering one-on-one meetings, workshops, and opportunities to engage with college representatives. Our counselors provide support with course selection, standardized testing, application essays, scholarships, and financial aid, while also fostering a broader understanding of how faith, character, and purpose can shape the college experience.

The goal of Savannah Christian’s College Counseling program is not only to help students gain admission to the right schools but also to prepare them for success and leadership beyond our campus. By graduation, each student leaves with a plan that reflects their unique gifts, values, and aspirations.

Where College Dreams Take Shape

Eighth Grade Visitation

In the spring of their final year of middle school, eighth grade students have an opportunity to experience the vibrant, Christ-centered community of the upper school. During this visit, eighth graders tour the campus, meet teachers and staff, and participate in activities that provide a glimpse into daily life at the school. One of the breakout sessions provides an overview of the college advising process.
PSAT 8/9

The PSAT 8/9 is designed for eighth and ninth-grade students as part of the College Board's SAT Suite of Assessments. The assessment helps establish a baseline for college readiness, as well as, prepare eighth grade students for future tests such as the PSAT and SAT.
Freshman Year

Ninth grade college planning is integrated into the Upper School experience to ensure students are well-prepared for their academic futures. Key components of this planning include upper school orientation and PSAT testing. Additionally, students and parents sit down with their grade level coordinator to create their four-year plan.
Sophomore Year

Tenth grade students are encouraged to continue exploring their future academic paths and college options. If recommended, students may challenge themselves with honors/AP classes. Sophomores will take the PSAT in October to refine their test-taking skills. Additionally, parents and students will sit down with their grade level coordinator to review and revise their four-year plan.
Junior Year

Eleventh-grade students begin to engage more deeply in the college advising process through college visits, college readiness testing, and the development of essays and resumes. Parents and students will meet with their grade-level coordinator to review and refine their four-year plan.
Senior Year

Senior year college advising at Savannah Christian is an intensive, personalized process designed to support students as they finalize their college applications and prepare for the transition to higher education. Students work closely with their college advisor to refine their application materials, including essays, resumes, and recommendation letters, while also receiving guidance on selecting colleges that align with their academic and personal goals. Throughout the year, students participate in workshops on interview preparation, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities, ensuring they are well-equipped for the college admissions process. Parents are involved in regular meetings to track progress and provide support as students navigate this exciting final year of high school.
