Mr. Wetmore’s Policies and Procedures

“Be where you’re supposed to be, when you’re supposed to be there, doing what you’re supposed to be doing, with the right attitude.”

Required Class Materials:                 --Three ring notebook or folder with prongs for removal and insertion of

paper (no spiral notebooks), paper, pencil and pen (blue or black only),

textbook with bookcover, and simple non-programmable calculator.  No

graphing calculators allowed!

--All materials are to be brought to class everyday unless otherwise

instructed.  No borrowing!  Come prepared!

Grading:                      The student’s grade is obtained from a combination of test, quiz, homework, project, lab,

 and participation grades.

A. Test Grades                         *All test grades are averaged together and count for 60% of the nine weeks grade.

*Written examinations will be given 3-4 times per quarter (typically every other

Tuesday).  These will be announced and posted at least one week in advance, so there are no excuses!

*Make-up tests due to an absence must be made-up within three school days unless

otherwise approved by the teacher.

*If a student is absent the day before a test, he will take the test with the class unless

the student has been absent for an extended period of time.  This is due to the fact that

the day before a test is a review day.

B. Projects:                               *Projects will be assigned at teacher’s discretion.  A detailed description will be given

with the project.

C.  Quiz Grades                                    *All quiz grades are averaged together and count for 30% of the nine weeks grade.

      1. Unannounced quizzes:      *Unannounced quizzes should be expected any class period.  Students will be quizzed

over previously learned material and/or reading assignments.

      2. Homework:                     *Homework will be collected and graded occasionally as a quiz.

      3. Labs:                              *Science labs/demonstrations will be done in class and graded as quizzes.

      4. Science Reports:              *Science reports are due every two weeks on specified dates and will be graded as

quizzes.

D.  Homework/Participation:      *At the end of the quarter, a homework/participation grade that counts 10% will be

averaged into the quarter grade.

*This grade is based on the student’s participation in class and in completing homework.

*Homework will be checked or turned in at the beginning of class when asked for.

DO NOT lay homework or lay other assignments on my desk; put it in my hand

unless instructed otherwise.

*Every incomplete assignment will receive a zero homework grade.  After three

incomplete assignments, I will notify the parent.

E.  Extra Credit:                        *No extra credit other than the participation grade will be provided.
