SUMMER SCHOOL POLICY
The statement outlined below concerning Savannah Christian’s
policy on failed courses, summer school, and graduating seniors is for your
information.
Savannah Christian School’s policy on failed courses is as
follows:
- Any
student who fails a semester course may make it up in summer school or the
following school year. We recommend
taking the course in summer school to stay on track. NOTE: Bible classes are not taught in
summer school.
- The
final grade of a yearly course must be 70 or above to receive one
unit. If the final grade is 69 or
below, the failed semester(s) will have to be repeated in summer school to
receive a unit. If summer school is
not attended, the whole course (both semesters) will have to be repeated
the following year. This option may
pose problems with total credits required for college admission.
- An
English course or math course that is failed for the year will have
to be made up in summer school (following the above policy) for that
student to be considered for promotion.
- Courses
will have to be completed in summer school before school begins in
August.
- A
student who fails 3 yearly subjects both semesters will not be allowed to
return to SCPS the following year.
- A
student who fails 4 or more total credits at the end
of the school term will not be allowed to return to SCPS the following
year.
Savannah Christian School’s policy on summer school is as
follows:
- A
maximum of 2 units (or 4 semester courses) may be taken for credit from
approved institutions. Only accredited
institutions are acceptable. If
you have any questions about schools to attend, please call Mr. Kelley or
Mrs. Rowland. Only those courses
that were failed may be taken for credit in summer school.
- You
must take the courses written on the forms that will be given to you. No substitutions are allowed.
Savannah Christian School’s policy for graduating seniors is
as follows:
- Seniors
who have not met all requirements for graduation in May will not
march with the class in the ceremony.
- Seniors
may take 2 units in summer school to receive their diplomas in August.
- Seniors
who need more than 2 units to graduate at the end of the school year will
not receive their diplomas in August.
Grades Earned in Summer School
Grades earned in summer school do
not replace grades earned during the school year when computing your GPA. The courses are averaged with all of the
other grades on your transcript. Each
semester course taken in summer school must be passed. For example, if you take both semesters of
Algebra I, you must pass both semesters.
We do not average the two semester grades.
