How Mrs. McKowen grades in Spanish class.
- In all
foreign language classes, it is mandatory that all words are spelled
correctly. If there is even one
letter wrong, the whole word is wrong.
When learning a new list of vocabulary words, it is necessary to
learn the correct spelling and the placement of any accents. Every word and every accent equals one
point each. There is no variation
through the year. I count up all
the words and accents and that is the basis for the amount of points on a
given assignment.
- It is
your responsibility to keep up with all assignments, learn the vocabulary,
ask for help if you need it and be prepared. We will be doing oral presentations, projects, listening and
written exercises and all work is graded.
- Learning
the vocabulary is one of the most important components of a foreign
language class. It is necessary to
stay current with the vocabulary as we progress through the year. It is impossible to learn the entire
vocabulary list in an evening, so it is necessary to study continually. A vocabulary fan is required for each
list.
Classroom policies
- It is
important to do your own work.
- Do not
allow anyone to use your assignment for their own benefit.
- If you
do lend someone your work, then the lender and the borrower will be turned
into the office for cheating.
- No
cheating will be tolerated
- It is
your responsibility to get assignments when you are absent.
- Any
work not turned in will be a zero.
- I will
give only one make-up for tests and quizzes.
- If you
know that you will be absent, please check with me to get your assignment.
- While
you are in my class, I will only let you work on Spanish. There will an exception made if you
have finished all the work assigned.
