Dear Parents:

Art & Design I is a basic introduction course to various art mediums. We will take a short course in drawing and learn to paint with water color, acrylic and tempera. We will learn the elements and principles of design. Students will have opportunities to analyze how famous artist have used the visual elements, art processes and media to communicate their ideas and to create emotional impact. Relationships will be discussed that exist between art and other disciplines of the humanities. Students will critique artwork using the process of description, analysis, interpretation and judgment based on evidence observed in the artwork.

All assignments are due on time or five points will be deducted every day that they are late. Students will be required to submit one piece of artwork for the Spring juried art show “Reflections.”

We are in need of old magazines, reams of colored paper, yarn, old fabric, beads, feathers, macrame cord, needles, thread, sewing supplies and any arts and crafts supplies that you would like to donate. We also need old 35 mm cameras for our photography classes.

I invite you to visit our classroom and ask you to encourage your students to enter his/her artwork in our spring celebration of the arts “Reflections.” If you are willing to help in our classroom or have special talents you would like to share, please fill out the form below:
