WELCOME TO MRS. LEBLANG'S WEB PAGE!
This is an
exciting year at Savannah Christian Preparatory School in the Foreign Language
Department.
Lots of interesting
things are going on that will help you (or your student) learn another
language.
In Spanish,
we have adopted a brand-new textbook series called Realidades ("Realities"),
and this new series is now used in Spanish I, II, and III. Spanish
IV students use it as a resource along with the many other activities they
do. All students and their families are invited to participate in
this year's eleven-day trip to beautiful Spain, a wonderful opportunity
to use "the global classroom" to learn more about Spanish language and
culture.
In addition to teaching Spanish, I also serve as the advisor to the National Honor Society and the Global Forum Club. Students must apply to NHS in order to be members. Applicants must have a cumulative grade average of 90.0, be enrolled in at least one advanced or Advanced Placement class, and be recommended by the faculty. Applications are accepted after the first marking period (for juniors and seniors only) and in January of each year (for sophomores and juniors). Global Forum is open to all students and is affiliated with the Savannah Council on World Affairs as a Junior Council. Its focus is current world issues. Students attend monthly lectures of the SCWA and participate with other local high schools in special programs and competitions. This year a team from Savannah will travel to Washington, D.C., to compete in a national event.
