| Mrs. Lester was born in Elgin, Illinois, just outside of Chicago. She attended public schools in Chicago and the University of Illinois at Urbana, Illinois, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. After several years of teaching elementary grades, she returned to school and received one Master's Degree in special education from Armstrong Atlantic State University and another in school counseling from Georgia Southern University. She taught and tutored at every grade level before becoming a middle school counselor at Savannah Christian Middle School in August, 1988. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

Mrs. Lester has three grown children, Lamar Lester Jr, Laura Simpson, and Bill Lester. She also has three grandchildren, Lamar Lester III, Hunter Lester (ages 11 and 9) and Mattie Simpson(age 3). |
