Grading Policies

Quiz grades count 80% of the final grade.

The 9 weeks exam counts 20% of the final grade.

The following are quizzes:

  1. A 20 problem test is given after every 5 lessons (i.e. after Lessons 10, 15, 20, etc.) This counts as 1 quiz grade.
  2. Math vocabulary tests are given once or twice a 9 weeks. These each count as 1 quiz grade.
  3. All Practice problems are averaged into 1 quiz grade.
  4. All HW grades recorded in the computer are averaged into 1 quiz grade.
  5. Notebooks are graded once or twice a 9-weeks and each time counts as a quiz grade.
  6. Advanced Math students will be given extra logic problems or projects to do during the 9-weeks. These will count as a quiz grade.

As you see, there will be numerous quiz grades. That is why one bad grade will not ruin a student’s grade.

Extra Credit

Three extra points will be added to the quiz average before the exam if the student has not had more than 2 “zero grades.” (Please refer to the Math Memo you signed at the first of the year for more explanations. This memo should be in your child’s notebook.)
