Which marking column do I use?
Use the marking column
that reflects the school calendar. Do
not select the "mid" marking column - this is a column where
midterm grades are posted automatically. It is for viewing purposes
only.
Helpful
Hint: Be sure to change the marking column when you have posted
your grades at the end of the quarter and are ready to add grades for the
following quarter.

What is the purpose of the Quarter_Mid
marking column? Do I enter grades here?
The Qtr Mid marking
Column represents the grade that will be posted for that quarter’s
Midterm. Nothing will appear
in this column until your grades are posted by the administration.
Do not enter your grades here; use the regular marking column
instead.

How do I set up the categories of my
grade book?
Click
Set-Up
Click Categories:
Choose Marking Column (Qtr __)
Class
(Reading…)
Determine
Marking Column Grades Using (category averages or assignment grades)
Click on New:
Fill in Name
Default Name (if desired)
Graded (Yes or No)
Number to Drop
Choose Grading Scale

Points
Calculation Type (Using Points or Averages)
Factor (This must be at least 1)

How do I enter assignment grades?
After setting up the
assignment: Click on Grades, Find the matching assignment, and type the
grades in the column.
Be sure to save after
entering a column of grades so that your grade book is interacting with
the database..

I've set up my categories and my
assignment, but it doesn't appear as a column in my grade book. What
do I do?
Click
on the Set up tab
Assignments:
Check to make sure The Student Due Date falls within the quarter’s date
range.
Categories: Check to make sure that there is a factor of at
least 1 in the Factor box.

I teach a primary grade, and do not
always need to enter daily grades, can I enter a final grade in the last
column?
Yes, You may enter the
grades in the Quarter ___ Grade column.
You will not be able to use the Fill Down option.

Do skill grades carry over from midterm
to the end of the quarter?
Yes, the grades will
reflect what you posted at midterm.

term?
No,
you must enter the grades in the skill area each quarter.

How do I print a progress report for a
student?
Choose Reports
at the top of the FAWeb screen.
In the Marking Column,
choose which Quarter (s) you would like to include.
Choose:
Run For: “Students in classes” or “Advisees”
Report Type: “Summary”
or “Detailed”
You may also run a report
to “Only include
students with a Marking Column Grade lower than ____”

would like to include

Choose which assignments
you would like to include
Click
on the Format Tab
Choose which details you
would like included in your report, such as missing assignments.

After the reports are
visible on your screen you may choose to Print.
Click on the Print button
To print, you may use the
Ctrl+P or use the tool bar (File then Print)

How do I get an average for Math timed
tests without having it affect the overall average?
Set up a category for
Timed Tests with a Factor of 1. Then
set up a category for Math with a Factor of 99.

How do I see a yearly average for my
students?
Click
on Marking Column within Grades, click on Multiple
This
will show you the quarter averages, however, it does not calculate the End
of the Year Average.

How can I view attendance from another
quarter?
In Attendance, choose
which quarter you would like to view on the drop down menu.
In order to view the quarter, you will need to choose Customize
and then Dates to Include must contain the
Date
Range
for the quarter you would like to view.

A student has withdrawn from school,
but is still in my grade book. Whom do I contact to delete the
student from my grade book?
E-mail your request to
the guidance counselor.

my homeroom are earning in other classes?
In any grade book,
click on a student’s name
Then choose the
Progress Tab at the top of the page
Choose which Marking
Column you want to view
Scroll down the screen
to view all of the classes for which the student earns grades

Card Procedures
1.
Do I need to mark each course as ready,
or will marking one grade book send all of my grades to the office?
You must mark each
course as "Ready."

What do I need to check before marking
a course as "Ready"?
Check
to make sure that your categories have a Factor of at least 1
Check
that you have entered skill grades for all courses with skill grades
requirements.
Check
that there is a grade in the Quarter_ Grade column.

I'm sure I marked all of my courses as Ready, the office tells me that I have courses that are still not marked
as ready. How could this happen?
Check to make sure that
each course has been marked as ready.
Then save each course
before switching grade books.

Posting
Errors Explained
"class has no skill ratings"
Make
sure that you have filled out each of the Skill Areas for the classes that
require this.
"grade not present in the
translation table <blank>"
Check that there is a
grade in the Quarter_ Grade column. Check
to make sure that each Category has a Factor of at least 1.
"class not marked as ready to
post"
Choose each course and
make sure that you have chosen Ready in the Posting Status area. Be
sure to save each course before choosing another grade book.
