| In his current best seller The World is Flat, Thomas Friedman explains that today many of the world’s barriers have fallen. Time and distance, even government, no longer prohibit the free flow of commerce, ideas and communication between the people of the world. The Internet and the growing flow of commerce now connect us in ways that, until recently, were only a dream. This is the “new world” our children face.
As one of Georgia’s largest private schools, Savannah Christian must be a leader in the preparation of our children for the world they will face. At the same time we must continue the fine tradition of Christian education our predecessors began over fifty years ago. Developing plans and policies to support this endeavor within the framework of “what we can afford” is the great challenge of your Board of Trustees. Fortunately, you have a Board, Administration, Staff and Teachers who understand these challenges and are dedicated to providing the very best education possible for our young people.
We are preparing our school for the future! We have been blessed to witness the miracles that have shaped our first “Generation to Generation” Capital Campaign! The campaign’s success is evident in the dramatic changes we are seeing at our Chatham Parkway Campus. The first phases of our roads and infrastructure construction have been completed. Soon our new Fine Arts – Gymnasium complex will begin construction.
Plans are already underway for the next capital campaign as we continue the development of our Chatham Parkway Campus. At the same time, the great success of our Annual Fund Drive continues to astound everyone! This fundraising is essential to meet the on-going improvement needs of our existing facilities, equipment and resources. On behalf of our school and our children, the Board expresses its deep appreciation to all the parents, alumni, friends and volunteers who have given countless hours and donations to make every facet of Savannah Christian successful.
Last year the Board invested many, many hours in the development of a comprehensive Long Range Strategic Plan. The carefully crafted plan is an exciting roadmap for our next five years. We’ll share more about this Plan in the near future.
Maintaining our heritage of a Christian education – Preparing our children for the Twenty-First Century – A wonderfully successful Capital Campaign – The development of a comprehensive Long Range Strategic Plan. Your Board has been busy and our agenda continues to be demanding. However, we are honored to serve our fellow parents, alumni and friends in preparing SCPS for a challenging future. I am confident that we are on the right track. I am also humbled to witness the many, many miracles through which the Lord has blessed this institution.
