Dr. Ruth Ann Palmer, new SCPS Lower School Principal beginning with the 2008-09
school year

Dear SCPS family,
After much prayer and consideration, I am pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Ruth Ann Palmer as our new Lower School Principal. Dr. Palmer is currently the Administrative Head of St. Petersburg Christian School in St. Petersburg, Florida. SPCS is a Blue Ribbon Award winning K-8, non-denominational, Christian school with a faculty and staff of 80 and a student body of approximately 500.
Dr. Palmer's experience includes the last 19 years as Administrative Head of
St. Petersburg Christian School, seven years as Principal of South Elementary School in Mooresville, North Carolina, five years as an elementary teacher at South Elementary School and three years as an Instructor of Education, teaching Kindergarten and Grades 2 and 3 in the Laboratory School of Ohio University.
Her certifications include School Administration -- Superintendent and Principal; Early Childhood Education; Intermediate Grades; Curriculum Specialist; Music (K-12); and Academically Gifted (K-12).
While Dr. Palmer's credentials and experience are impressive, her most attractive quality is her love for and commitment to a biblically based, Christ-centered education.
She and Mrs. Brannen are planning a time for her to visit before school is out.
I would like to thank the Search Committee of Aileen Bel, Susan Crosby, Rhonda Elton, Colleen Smith and Tiffany Wissmach for their prayers, professionalism, insights and candid responses and questions during the interviews and discussions.
