An anonymous donor who wishes to be known only as “a friend of the school” recently pledged
$2.5 million dollars toward our upcoming campus redevelopment plans, which include building a new Upper School,
new Lower School wing, cafeteria expansion, new fields, and moving the DeRenne Avenue students over to Chatham Parkway.
As Phase One ($17.8 million) of campus redevelopment draws to a conclusion, Phase Two ($23.5 million) is poised
for immediate action pending the results of our current Legacy Capital Campaign.
Added to the Eckburg’s $5 million matching gift pledge, the new gift provides for a total availability
of $7.5 million dollars in matching gifts. This means that if we can raise another $7.5 million dollars, they will
match it with $7.5 million, for a total of $15 million toward the $23.5 million estimated cost of Phase Two construction.
At the moment, we have eighty donors who have given leadership gifts and pledges totaling
approximately $2 million. Matching the remaining $5.5 million is the immediate goal of our Legacy Capital Campaign.
Between January and May 2008, we are inviting every parent, grandparent, faculty and staff member,
alumnus, and SCPS friend to help match these funds. By the end of this May, we hope to have raised at least
$5.5 million so we can move ahead with the construction of the new Upper School and initiate other scheduled
projects as our funding allows. Our planned goal is to unite our campuses by August 2010.
Legacy meetings. We have prepared a summary brochure and gift and pledge information for everyone.
We hope you look forward to hearing from us, and we hope to see you soon!
