Middle School Artz Blitz 2007
Week-long extravaganza of exciting arts classes, 2/20/07

Line

Artz Blitz 2007 was held at the middle school January 22nd through the 26th. Sponsored by the Council for Arts and Academics, Artz Blitz is a series of five day workshops where students are able to choose classes from a list of performing, visual, and strategy arts.

It is our goal that the students are able to broaden their artistic horizons and gain knowledge and appreciation of subjects they may have previously had no experience with. At the end of the week those students participating in a performing art were able to showcase their talents in a Performing Arts Chapel held on Friday, January 26th. Students who created works of art work were able to submit their pieces for Reflections.

We were very fortunate to have had talented artists from all around the city, as well as some of our very own SCPS faculty to be guest instructors for the week. The list of instructors included:

  • Ballet by Sasha Travis-McCurdy of the Savannah Actor’s Theatre
  • Chorus by Barbara Lanier of SCPS
  • Japanese Art by Troy Brantley of SCPS
  • Ceramic Pottery by Lisa Bradley of Savannah’s Cultural Affairs
  • Orienteering by Mark West – an SCPS parent
  • Calligraphy by Susan Donahue of SCPS
  • Improvisational Acting by Ryan McCurdy of the Savannah Actor’s Theatre
