Mrs. Harold Deane Akins, co-founder of Savannah Christian Preparatory School, recently visited Mrs. Ivey’s Fifth
grade class. The fifth graders read the book, “Miracles in My Life,” about Mr. Akins earlier in the school year
and then wrote thank you letters to Mrs. Akins to thank her for her part in beginning SCPS.
Mrs. Akins spoke to the students about her strong commitment to the Lord and how she still serves
Him through missions work in Kenya and teaching a Bible study. The class asked her questions and then she asked
the class questions. Though hard to pick out, she revealed that one of her many favorite Bible stories was the
woman at the well. One of her favorite Bible verses reminds us to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart,
soul, mind, and strength, and keep His commandments.”
Mrs. Akins also presented each student with a signed copy of her new book, “Founded on the Rock
– Jesus Christ.” All were blessed by this dear godly woman’s words of wisdom.
