SCPS Soccer Player Jamee Franklin signs with Clayton State University

Franlin Savannah Christian Preparatory School Senior, Jaymee Franklin, signed a letter of intent to play soccer for Clayton State University on Friday, April 7, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the Weeks’ Media Center on the Chatham Parkway campus.

Six years prior, Jaymee made a commitment to her grandfather upon his passing that she would earn a scholarship and continue to put school first. Now, Jaymee’s hard work has enabled her to remain true to that vow written in a poem about her late grandfather, Thomas Reese.

Jamee Franklin Named Savannah Christian’s “Best Female Athlete” for this year, Jaymee served in a leadership position as captain for both the softball and soccer teams for the last two years. Staying competitive on the field and in the classroom, Jaymee has a 3.75 GPA and remains on the High Honor Roll list each quarter. Her ability to balance academics and dominate her sport will serve her well as a freshman at Clayton State University in Atlanta, Georgia which is a four-year state university in the University System of Georgia. One of only 36 “Notebook Universities” nationwide, Clayton State was the third public university in the country to require notebook computers.

Excelling in multiple sports, Jaymee lettered two years in basketball, four years in softball as well as four years in soccer. Named an “Area Player to Watch” by the Savannah Morning News, Jaymee continues to be recognized for her skill and determination to play any position on the Red Raider team. Last year she had an impressive fourteen goals and six assists, and this year she is reaching those same levels and assisting the team in their 7-0 record in 3-A/AA league play.

Jaymee is the daughter of Jimmy and DeLane Franklin of Savannah.
