Chris Rearick has signed a letter of intent to play baseball for Berry College.
The pitching coach from Berry College, Josh Hopper, and Chris' SCPS coaches, friends and family looked
on as he signed his commitment on Wednesday, January 18th, 2006.
He is thrilled to be the only senior player on the SCPS team. His leadership will be a huge addition
to this year’s team and all of them will be present to see him sign a letter of intent to play baseball
for Berry College! On hand was the coaching department from Savannah Christian and
Playing recreational baseball since he was 5 years old with Pooler recreation as well as the "Savannah Greys"
and "Storm," Chris Rearick’s early love of the game prepared him for high school play at Savannah Christian Preparatory School, and now, he’s off to college! He has played high school baseball since the 9th grade, but suffered an injury to his left ankle during practice before the season in 10th grade. Playing injured the last half of that season with a "home made" ankle brace, made by his trainer, Chris continued to contribute to the team by playing 1st base and pitching in a few games. Having corrective surgery on both ankles, Chris powered back for his 11th grade season and received the "Most Improved" award.
Chris is very athletic and has played football from 9th to 12th grade and received recognition as 2nd team all region for 3-AA defense in 12th grade. He played basketball in 10th & 11th grade. Chris also bowls in a junior league on Saturday’s, and at 15 yrs old he bowled a 715 series. During his junior year he was on the "All Stars" team which won first place.
With all his success in sports he has also made time for the Key Club in the 9, 10 & 12th grades and he excels academically in Mathematics. Chris started at Savannah Christian in January 1988, at 6 weeks old. Chris is attending Berry College, because the college offers a dual program for Engineering with Georgia Tech, which can be completed in 5 years. He was also drawn to Berry’s campus because of its beauty on all of its 28,000 acres. Chris is the youngest of three children and lives in Pooler, Georgia.
