Savannah Christian Preparatory School Seniors Elizabeth Roberds
and Ryan Cowart signed national letters of intent today in the Media Center on the SCPS campus.
Elizabeth signed to play volleyball at Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C. Ranked number three in
her class, she has been awarded a Trustee’s Scholarship for academic achievement as well as a volleyball
scholarship. Elizabeth has played volleyball for seven years at SCPS (including Middle School),
serving as Co-Captain in her senior year. She was selected to the All-Coastal Empire Volleyball
2nd team as a junior and 1st team as a senior. She won awards for Best Offense and Best Serving for
the 2004 season. Elizabeth also is an accomplished soccer player, lettering for the past four years.
She is the daughter of Willie and Deborah Roberds of Savannah.
Ryan signed to play baseball for Georgia College & State University at Milledgeville. Ryan is a
three-year letterman at SCPS, leading the pitching staff in his junior year with a 1.14 ERA and 94
strikeouts over 73 innings pitched. Ryan has played summer ball with Chain Baseball for five years.
In 2002, Ryan received the Chain Baseball Pitching Award and was the winning pitcher for the 2003
IBF Wood Bat World Series championship game in Winter Haven, Fla. Ryan was also a member of the 2004
Southeastern Championship Series Team and was named to the All Tournament Team in the 2004 USSSA World
Series for Pitching. Ryan has attended SCPS for 12 years. He is the son of Alan and Carmine Cowart of
Savannah.
