Retreat Many of you have inquired as to the results of the first planning session held Saturday, October 2, 2004, as part of the Board of Trustees' Long Range Plan (LRP) process. Approximately 50+ participants (parents, faculty, staff, board members and written input from students) were divided into five groups and asked to brainstorm ideas that would depict the ideal SCPS in the year 2010. Each group was asked to come up with at least 40-50 ideas and then to prioritize those ideas into a top ten or 15 list. (All ideas presented will be included in the appendix of the final LRP report). The prioritized lists in the report also include the list of recommendations from the Institutional Assessment Report given to the Board by Dr. Walker Buckalew, Master Consultant with Independent School Management, Inc. (ISM).

Retreat At the Saturday, November 6, 2004, planning meeting the prioritized lists with estimated costs (expressed in tuition increase terms) will be discussed and prioritized by the participants as to cost effectiveness and mission appropriateness. This list of priorities with costs will next be edited and assigned timelines by the Steering Committee of the Board (co-chaired by Cheryl Drwiega and Jim Stevenson) and the administration. Dr. Buckalew will write the final draft of the plan to be recommended by the Steering Committee to the Board for adoption at the November Board meeting.

If you have any questions or concerns, or would like to participate in the Saturday, November 6 planning meeting, please let me know via email or phone.
