On March 28th, Cub Scout Pack 11 invaded Hunter Army Airfield on a special mission to take over some of the Army’s finest helicopters for the day. Commanding the operation was CW4 Lenny Irwin (call sign “Bear Dad”). Officer Irwin and his team of elite Army Aviators once again proved their metal as they gave the Cubs an up close and personal tour. The Pack 11 Cubs were able to test out the pilot seats and try their hand at the controls of U.S. Army Blackhawk, Apache Longbow, and Kiowa Scout rotorcraft. In addition, the Army Aviators briefed the Scouts on the types of operations carried out by their team with these and other helicopters. In return, the Scouts undoubtedly taught Officer Irwin and his team the importance of preflight checklists. A big thank you to CW4 Lenny Irwin and all the outstanding aviators that gave their precious weekend time to enrich and amaze the Pack 11 Scouts and parents. Also, thank you for serving America’s needs at home and overseas. Click here for more photos
