On February 7, 2009, Pack 11 Scouts and Scouters joined others from the Coastal Empire Council on the second annual “Savannah Religious Hike”. This 6-mile hike provided the Pack a fun filled and educational morning as they toured the historic, downtown area. During the hike, the Cubs made stops at 16 locations to gain a better understanding of our city’s religious heritage. These stops included Trinity Methodist Church, 1st and 2nd African Baptist Church, Christ Episcopal Church, Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wesley Chapel, Independent Presbyterian Church, First Baptist Church, Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church, St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church, Bull Street Baptist Church, Mickve Israel Synagogue, and St. John’s Episcopal Church. The Scouts also met historical characters such as Juliette Gordon Low, the Telfair Sisters, General Oglethorpe, and Union Soldiers along the route.
