Roger and Ruth Yancey

Our Headmaster, Roger Yancey and his wife, Ruth Ann, have three children -- Kendall Archer, Jon-David and Seth -- and seven grandchildren.

A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Mr. Yancey began his educational career in 1973 by helping start Towering Oaks Baptist School, where he served as Athletic Director and Head Coach. He received his Master of Education degree in 1977 and moved to Little Rock, Arkansas where, over the next 18 years, he worked as Assistant Headmaster at Pulaski Academy (4 years), went into business (2 years), and then served as the Administrator and basketball coach for Walnut Valley Christian Academy (12 years).

In 1995, the Yanceys moved to Colorado Springs where he served as Superintendent of Colorado Springs Christian School. In 1998, they moved to Savannah, Georgia where Mr. Yancey serves as Headmaster of Savannah Christian Preparatory School.

Welcome from the Headmaster

Thank you for visiting Savannah Christian Preparatory School’s website. It is almost as good as actually being here. You will get some vivid evidences of how God has blessed this school in the past, of what He is currently doing through us, and how we are trusting Him for our future.

Roger Yancey, HeadmasterSavannah Christian Preparatory School seeks to glorify God by partnering with families, churches and the local community in educating future generations through Christ-centered training, application and example. Our name identifies who, Whose and what we are. We are jealous for the name of Christ that we carry on our school. We are committed to preparing students not only for college, but for a God-honoring life as well. There can be no higher purpose on this earth than to glorify God in all that we do. We desire to come along side of the home and the church in developing young Daniels and Esthers for the Lord.

Roger Yancey, Headmaster Christ-centered training implies discipline, rigor and tough-mindedness. The academic waters run swift and deep here at SCPS. As a school for average and above average students, those who possess a strong work ethic will do well. All smiley faces are truly earned. Application means we desire to be more than just “hearers” but “doers” as well. Whether involved in a hands-on laboratory experiment, participating in sports, building robots or tutoring under privileged students in the community, our students have the opportunity to live out what they are hearing. And it is just as important how they live since they are examples to others.

SCPS is a real school. We have real people with real needs and failures. However, we also serve a real God who is faithful even when we are not, who never sleeps nor slumbers, but is ever mindful of His people. For that we are grateful and blessed. Daily we invoke His blessing as we develop the whole person to the glory of God!

Come visit us. You will be glad you did.

With kind regards,

Roger L. Yancey,
Headmaster
