 Graduation requirements and course options
General Information
Re-enrolled students will receive priority scheduling!

If you fail:

  • An English or Math course, you MUST attend summer school.
  • More than one subject, you MUST attend summer school.
  • One subject, we strongly recommend you attend summer school.
You must attend an accredited summer school program in order to receive credit. You MUST take what is written on the summer school form. NO SUBSTITUTIONS ARE ALLOWED. If you have questions, please contact the school office before you register.

Required credit units:

  • 5 Units to enter 10th Grade
  • 10 Units to enter 11th Grade
  • 16 Units to enter 12th Grade
  • 22 Units to graduate.

Athletic Eligibility Requirements - You must have passed five courses the previous semester and currently be enrolled in five classes. The only courses that may be repeated for credit are Band, Chorus, Drama, and PE.

9th Grade
Based on availability, 9th grade students may choose to take a Foreign Language course, Band or Chorus instead of the Bible or PE requirement. Students must still take one unit of Bible and one unit of PE at some point in time.
10th Grade
There are five required courses for 10th grade students - English, math, World History, science, and foreign language. A 10th grade student must choose one elective unit. The elective may be a Yearly course or two semester courses. In planning for graduation keep in mind the number of academic electives recommended by different colleges and universities. Recommendation and/or requirements may be found on their web sites.
11th Grade
There are five required courses for 11th grade students - English, math, U.S. History, science, and a foreign language. Juniors should be aware of completing their Bible requirement. In planning for graduation keep in mind the number of academic electives recommended by different colleges and universities. Recommendation and/or requirements may be found on their web sites.
12th Grade
English, math and economics are the only required courses for the 12th grade. Seniors are responsible for seeing that they meet all graduation requirements. In order to be eligible for honors in the senior year, students must take four academic subjects as a minimum. In planning for graduation keep in mind the number of academic electives recommended by different colleges and universities. Recommendation and/or requirements may be found on their web sites. With parental permission, a senior will be allowed to leave school at the end of fifth period if he/she has accumulated enough credits to graduate. Joint enrollment at Armstrong Atlantic State University is required for early out after fourth period. Special permission must be obtained in MARCH of a student's Junior year for this option.

  • 12th Grade - Algebra III (440) or Adv Algebra & Trig (434) or AP Calculus (449)

Our Math classes begin with Algebra I. If you are a weak math student, we recommend that you start a tutorial program in the summer to strengthen your skills. Algebra I taken in the 8th Grade does not count as one of the 22 units required for graduation unless your school gave you a Carnegie Unit for it. The credit must be written on your transcript.
