Bye Bye Birdie Marquee at Trustees Theater First All-School Broadway Musical Successful
March 2004

SCPS performed the Broadway musical "Bye Bye Birdie" at SCAD's Trustees Theater in March of 2004.

Around 1,200 people enjoyed two performances of sixty-four student cast members selected from 3rd through 12th grades. Sponsored by the SCPS Arts and Academics Council, more than sixty adults were involved in helping cast, prepare for and perform the musical.

This was our school's first all-school Broadway musical production. Students were selected from casting calls three months prior to the play, and then spent two full months in weekly practice sessions in the school's cafeteria to prepare for production. Students were able to practice in Trustee's Theater the last week, and then performed a Saturday evening show and a Sunday afternoon matinee.
