The 2004 Upper School Drama Club staged several performances of "The President"s New Clothes" for students, families and friends,
and for regional AA "One-Act Play" competition during the month of October 2004.
In this musical comedy, President William Lee (Carson Britt) is too busy with international politics to
worry about whether his striped tie clashes with his plaid pants and argyle socks. His devoted wife
(Lauren Winters) is understanding but the media takes a stab at his wardrobe, as does his election opponent,
Horace Grinchley (Ed Udvadia), and Horace's overly-ambitious campaign manager, Myrna Snerd (Mary Swails).
The two get several people to pose as wardrobe consultants (Deanna Cossio, Krista Lewis, and Maggie Elliott)
to strip President Lee down to his "bare" essentials, and have him deliver a nationally televised debate in a
suit only visible to loyal constituents.
Other vibrant characters adding to the campaign fever in this play include the President's running mate
(Ryan Sadowsky), a salami-hoarding terrorist (Joseph Darieng), an environmental fanatic (Brianna Russell),
plus a patriotic, chaotic chorus of reporters (Rosanna Crosby, Chad King, Lauren Patterson, and Rachel
Winters), White House staff (Katie Watters, Kelly Bunger), and secret service agents (Adam Carpenter
and Grant Roszkowiak).
