| Our school originally opened its doors in September 1951
with an enrollment of eight high school students.
Ann Tyson, the only senior,
graduated in June of 1952 from what was then called the "Evangelical Bible Institute (EBI)."
We officially became "Savannah Christian School" in 1954, and then "Savannah Christian
Preparatory School" (SCPS) in 1978.

| Savannah Christian Preparatory School (SCPS)
is an independent,
non-denominational PK-12 college prep Christian school. We seek to glorify
God by partnering with families, churches and the local community in educating
future generations through Christ-centered training, application and example.
Founded as the Evangelical Bible Institute with eight boarding students
in 1951 by the Rev. George and Mrs. Harold Deane Akins, SCPS has contributed to the education of more than
5,000 students at some point during their educational journey, including more than 3,300 alumni,
over 1600 students on campus every day, 1300 current families, and 190 staff and faculty.
The school presently maintains two campuses. The 234-acre Chatham Parkway campus
hosts nearly 1000 Lower and Upper School students and 160 Daycare/Preschool students.
Facilities include thirteen buildings with classrooms, labs, media centers, a gym,
and a cafeteria, an outdoor pool, a track, five athletic fields, three playgrounds,
and the Ecological Diversity for Educational Networking (E.D.E.N.) outdoor education
center.
The 14-acre DeRenne Avenue campus is home to over 500 Lower and Middle School
